About TeamWWF

In addition to being highly competitive, the sport of automobile racing can also be extremely expensive.

The Wings & Wheels Foundation strives to identify young talented drivers and help place them in a supportive environment led by professionals who have achieved a high level of success in the motor racing industry.

While helping to refine first-class on-track skills, TeamWWF is also dedicated to helping its drivers develop the business and social skills that are necessary for procuring and retaining valuable associations, partnerships, and sponsorships that make motorsports possible.

Selected by a panel of highly acclaimed drivers and industry professionals TeamWWF recipients will be selected from applicants of diverse backgrounds who demonstrate a high level of sportsmanship, a positive mental attitude, and a competitive personality in addition to their on-track skills.

Al Unser, Jr. and Andy O'Gara share in Wings & Wheels Foundation's passion for helping top professionals succeed in open-wheel racing.

AL // I’m Al Unser Jr.

ANDY // And I’m Andy O’Gara.

AL // We’re here with the Wings & Wheels Foundation.

ANDY // We’d like to thank you guys for visiting today. It’s a great opportunity for us personally to help develop the young careers of the multiple individuals that might not necessarily see the opportunities within our sport, regardless of race, gender, age, nationality, we’re here and we want to see the top professionals make it where they need to be in open-wheel racing.

AL // And because I’ve seen in my career, lots of drivers have the talent, but they just don’t have the funding to go forward into the sport. And so we’re here to to help increase those chances for those drivers

ANDY // On and off the track the resources behind the seat time, the personnel, and the equipment necessary to perform at the top level are very, very important. And the Wings & Wheels Foundation is giving multiple opportunities to deserving drivers for 2021 and hopefully many years beyond. 

AL // And also with the families of the young drivers. We want their involvement in our race team and culture, all of them.

ANDY // Absolutely. Absolutely. The way we work week in and week out, it’s a family environment. We have to have fun coming to the track. We want those around us smiling. We want to remember why we’re here doing this.

AL // And also, and even with all of them in the auto racing industry, it teaches sportsmanship and competitiveness. It teaches fairness. You have to work hard at it when you’re out there racing and developing and practicing, and it involves entire families.

ANDY // The Wings & Wheels Foundation is developing far more than just race drivers. We’re developing the next generation of athletes, engineers, scientists, and mechanics, and really looking at those opportunities and trying to grant those to deserving individuals.

AL // Thank you.

ANDY // Thanks for joining us.
