Driving to Success: Aaron Jeansonne’s Remarkable Season in the Mazda MX5 Cup

TeamWWF at MX-5 Cup - Aaron & Bri

As the Executive Director of Wings and Wheels Foundation, I am thrilled to share the remarkable journey of our talented race car driver in the Mazda MX5 Cup. This season has been nothing short of extraordinary, culminating in a well-deserved second-place finish in the championship points.

Our dedicated driver, Aaron Jeansonne, started the season strong with a thrilling second-place finish at St. Petersburg. He continued to rack up points, showing consistent skill and determination. Jeansonne secured his first-ever win at Monterey in Round Six. He then went back-to-back with another win at Watkins Glen International in Round Seven. However, challenges are part of the game, as in any motorsport journey.

An unfortunate weekend at Road America brought the first major setback of the season. Aaron’s engine blew up, resulting in his first Did Not Finish (DNF) of the season. It was a challenging moment, but it’s often in adversity that true champions emerge. This is when you can genuinely see the champion’s heart come through in Jeansonne. Along with the hard-working crew at JTR Motorsports were able to power through the new motor quirks, and even switching to a backup car. Jeansonne powered through the hardships and continued to race to the best of his ability.

With his sights set on first place in points, Jeansonne entered the weekend with hope and determination, fully aware of the perfect weekend it would take to overcome his teammate, Jared Thomas. The intensity was palpable, and it all began with an impressive qualifying in first position for the first race at Road Atlanta.

The final rounds at Road America were nothing short of spectacular, marked by action-packed, hard-fought battles that had fans on the edge of their seats. Jeansonne, embodying the true spirit of a racer, never gave up, pushing the limits and fighting relentlessly until the checkered flag dropped. Every turn, every lap, every moment was a testament to his grit and talent.

The second-place Championship reflects Aaron’s undeniable talent and determination and the strong spirit of our racing community. We celebrate this incredible achievement and look forward to even more outstanding accomplishments in the future. We at Wings and Wheels Foundation are incredibly proud of Jeansonne’s achievements and resilience. It’s with great excitement and anticipation that we look forward to the next season, filled with new opportunities and challenges. We cannot wait for Race One Round One at Daytona International Raceway in January 2024.

“The continued support from the Wings and Wheels Foundation has been incredible. I can’t thank Mark and Alora McAlister enough and everyone else at the foundation that has believed in me and I’m so proud that we were able to make a serious run at a professional championship this year. It was exciting to have the strong support of the Turn 2 Club and several members this season and to bring a new partner to the team as well at the finale with GGT Energy Solutions. I can’t wait to see what 2024 brings.”
